Castle House was originally built in 1800\'s as a Royal Irish Constabulary barracks. The building is constructed of stone which has all been restored and pointed. The depth of the walls is three feet. The entrance is through double wrought iron gates and this wrought iron is continued in the railing to the front of the house. There is parquet flooring, laid in the herringbone design and is very much in keeping with the period of the house. The arched feature in the solid oak front door is continued with the internal ground floor doors. There are actually arched mahogany double doors leading into the kitchen from the dining room where there is a white Italian marble fireplace with three rosettes on the front. Also the living room has a magnificent Georgian Bullseye Belgian Marble fireplace, complete with a Georgian inset. The windows are leaded and double glazed. The lookout tower in the front of the house is replicated to the rear where it cleverly houses the stairs to the other floors. There is a large garden to the rear with mature trees. The doors on the first floor are rectangular and mahogany with magnificent detail. There is an opening on the second floor to the roof of the front lookout tower. This is idyllic on a warm summer day to enjoy the countryside as far as the Galtee Mountains. There is oil fired central heating throughout. There are 6 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Shamrock Lodge is a three bedroom modern dormer bungalow built in 2002. It is finished in stone which allows it to sit easily in close proximity to Castle House. There is a large double bedroom on the ground floor, with ensuite bathroom, which opens through double doors to the patio. There is a modern compact kitchen opening to the dining room and a separate living room on the ground floor. There are 2 bedrooms upstairs with one ensuite. The lodge has an adjoining private garden. Shamrock Lodge would be suitable as a family home for older parents or young couple. Cashel is just 4 miles away, which is a busy tourist town with the Rock of Cashel attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors annually.
